While many of you might be scouring the blogosphere in hopes of finding the perfect outfit ideas for the upcoming holidays –I myself can defo be included within that group of people–, this week I bring you a new look featuring (yet) another pair of culottes with the intention of showing you that the fashion winds are changing and the way to style many of our so-called seasonal pieces is changing with them!
Some of you might think it’s time to call for an intervention (see here, here and here to know what I am talking about), but please allow me to prove my point that a summer wardrobe can last you far longer than three months. You’ll thank me later 🙂
In this fast-produce-consume-dispose fashion world we currently live in, it’s always hard to keep up with the new trends: not only do collections last a heartbeat on the stores, but they also change so fast that you don’t even have the time to make up your mind about the latest velvet-everything-trend when suddenly velvet is gone and nowhere to be found! Luckily for us, this reality is changing little by little and the once-called seasonal pieces no longer belong to their season but can be restyled in a myriad of ways to add a fresh touch to a (winter) outfit. Alternatively, you can always wait a bit longer until those beauties are back in style, because as I am sure you have noticed by the 80s-90s invasion lately, sooner or later EVERYTHING COMES BACK!
So without further ado, here are my –or shall I say Pinterest’s?– three tips to extend the life of your summer wardrobe:
1. Raffia and net bags for the win(ter): these bags have been all the hype this summer and we grew so attached to them, that fashionistas all around the world are making a case for raffia and net bags in winter, yay!! I already showed you how to style a net bag in last week’s post, and here above you can see how my beloved pom-pom Zara bag perfectly complements this fall outfit. Other ideas can be found here and here.
2. Everyone rocks their heels with socks: did you score the perfect sandals this summer but didn’t get enough wears out of them? Worry not, my friend, for using socks with your open shoes is no longer a nerdy resort but a totally fashionable choice indeed! I am already planning a few looks with this combo, but you can see some inspo here and here. Ren is totally nailing this trend right now.
3. Bring on the layering game: I am sure this word will come up a hundred times when reading fashion blogsa, but think of it as if everyone had discovered the secret recipe of Coca-Cola and couldn’t keep it to themselves! A good game of layering not only allows you to keep those floral dresses floating in the chilly winds, but it also adds texture and interest to your outfit. Go crazy, try different combinations, I guarantee you won’t regret it! Santina from Hues of White masters the art of layering and I want to steal all her looks ♥
I keep on being surprised by how creative people are, playing smart and making the best of what they in their wardrobe without compromising on style. Or perhaps is the confidence with which they wear it. Either way, I am loving these rebels that keep me inspired and on top of my fashion game!
What did you think of this look, glamistas? Will you be putting any of these tips into practice?
Let me know down below and have a wonderful Sunday.
Peace&Love

2nd December 2017 at 10:11 pmI adore this outfit, but my favourite piece is the shoes! I love how you paired them in, and they’re so nice I’m literally in love. I completely hate being in Wales this time of year, it’s so cold and wet and miserable. I do envy those who can wear their summer wardrobe all year round – or better yet, don’t even possess a winter wardrobe!

3rd December 2017 at 9:43 amOh, girl, sorry to hear about the weather in Wales, I know what you mean. It’s not rained that much this year over here and I am definitely happy about that, but it’s also odd… I didn’t think velvet shoes were the best investment piece (what with living in England), but as it turns out, I’ve managed to wear them a few times already 🙂 Hope you are having a nice weekend, sweet Amy!

1st December 2017 at 12:57 pmSuch a lovely post, hun! I especially like what you said about recent trends just coming and going so quickly… You are completely right about that! I think that fashion trends in general used to stick for a lot longer than they tend to these days. They come and go in a blink of an eye! I think a lot of it might be down to social media, which is probably the biggest and most dynamic trend-setter these days. Anyways, I really like your tips! I am not much for trends etc., to be honest, but I sure do like layering – mostly because it’s just so comfy and warm, especially this time of year when it’s getting colder. Also, thanks for the lovely comment on my blog – happy to connect! Hope you’re having a super lovely week so far. <3 xoxo

26th November 2017 at 11:08 amI am all for extending the wear of things all year. Our seasons aren’t all that different here, well, summer and winter are, but it doesn’t get as cold here. So, for the most part I can dress the same way year round and mix and match. But, there is also a time for coats and a time for skirts.

26th November 2017 at 7:34 pmYou guys are so lucky, I admit I am not really keen on British winter, especially for the lack of light. Perhaps I should move to Australia, hahaha. I guess that less changing seasons means you have to make the most of your wardrobe all year round! Thanks for stopping by dear Jenelle, it means a lot Xx
