It has always been difficult for me to fit into one style category. I know most of us don’t have just one style –what with all the amazing & affordable options we have at hand nowadays in terms of fashion, but I am sure you agree that we are typically attracted to certain trends and items that we feel comfortable in or that we know suit us effortlessly. Don’t be fooled by these shots: my go-to look usually involves denim and comfy shoes 😉
I have always loved those girls that have a clearly defined style and that are able to own it and add their own twist to an outfit. Apparently this is a talent all French girls are born with 🙂
For a while I considered choosing one and sticking to it (what I would call style consistency), but every time I would go shopping I’d feel tempted by the widest variety of fabrics, patterns, cuts, colours… I am not going to lie to you: in my fashion yearbook you can spot classy, sporty, bohemian, chic, tomboy, glam and borderline trashy –we all have a past, alright?
I guess during my early years, fashion was still a realm of experimentation but within the limits of the socially acceptable. I was nonetheless a teenager that had to go through high school and do her best to fit in.
With the years, I started to care less about fitting in and more about finding a style that truly appealed to me, the only problem was that what appealed to me seemed to change almost every day, depending on my mood, the weather, the alignment of the planets… Nobody said finding your style was easy! (#firstworldproblems)
Bottom line is, how am I supposed to choose JUST ONE category for my wardrobe when I want them ALL!?
After a lot of consideration and internal debate, I realised my approach to fashion is the same approach I have towards food: I want to try everything there is to try, I don’t mind taking risks and making mistakes, but if I don’t give it a chance, I will never know if I really like it or if it just looks nice in my head (and on Chiara Ferragni).
Once this extensive exploratory research carried out, I feel I have better tools to pick my favourites from the many things I have tried, those I keep coming back to. But the important thing is that, as a general rule, I like to be open to other flavours and ways of cooking, be open to other styles and ways of looking.
There might be a good word to describe my taste after all: eclectic, drawn from multiple sources of inspiration. Either that or I am still trying to figure myself out, in which case you will see me make some more sartorial mistakes. But it’s OK, because nothing is really a mistake if you learn from it, and at the end of the day that’s what life is all about: the exciting adventure you live while trying to find your true self!
Peace&Love

2nd July 2017 at 11:03 pmSo much love for this outfit! And I can definitely relate to being drawn to different styles – I think it depends on mood a lot of the time and what I’m inspired by at the time! It keeps things interesting I guess! Your photos are so beautiful by the way <3

29th June 2017 at 11:50 amI also have more than one style as well. It pretty much depends on what mood I am when dressing. As you mentioned as well, there are trends we like best and some items we can’t stay away from. You love jeans and you rock them with all sort of tops and shoes which is good, but you also did a great job in styling this chic outfit which reminds me of something a french girl would wear. Wishing you a lovely day. xx

27th June 2017 at 11:57 pmMe he sentido muy identificada contigo!!

28th June 2017 at 7:44 pmSí, totalmente de acuerdo, Jota! Yo de vez en cuando pruebo lo del minimalismo y me encanta, y también me enamoran otras bloggers que consiguen que el negro no sea nada aburrido, jajaja. Pero también me gusta investigar, cambiar, evolucionar… ♥
The Style Contour
27th June 2017 at 10:15 pmWe are one and the same, girl! I have so many interests when it comes to styles (and food) that I can’t seem to just narrow things down. Though I do find that I tend to gravitate more towards edgier pieces and looks, there’s not telling when I’ll just wake up want to be wrapped up in a floral number. I think this is a great thing though because it just shows how open and receptive you are! That said, I really love this outfit! That top looks so good on you and I adore your jewelry and hat, such great styling! Thanks for sharing, beauty, and I hope you’re having a great start to your week so far!

26th June 2017 at 7:35 pmCouldn’t agree more Dora, I know for some people is challenging to experiment and they prefer to stick to a fail-proof style, or they are lucky enough to know what they like since a very early age (#jealous), but on the other hand, I’ll admit I am having fun with the in between! Wishing you an amazing Monday, dear xx
