While I was checking the photos for this week’s post, I couldn’t help but notice a special light on the shots. A natural filter brought by the Cambridge sun shining through a thin layer of clouds on a warmish spring day. It was a few weeks ago, just another Sunday, we laid in bed for a while after waking up –one of my favourite sports!– letting this spring haze surround us with its tender arms.
Then it was time to get ready for our second favourite sport. Do you guess which?… Brunch (what else!)
For our day out, I chose this striped white dress that I accidentally got from H&M after a failed Christmas present from Mr. Vet 🙂
When exchanging the too-tight-for-my-butt dress he had gotten me originally, I was attracted to this little number here. Not the kind of piece I would normally wear, as I tend to gravitate towards more casual and/or girly shapes and I thought this was too white for my own good, but I somehow felt it would be the perfect basic dress to have in my wardrobe and decided to give it a chance.
The cut is straight but not too dull, the fabric is quite thick and with the long sleeves, it’s a piece I can pretty much wear all year round and not only on warm days, which you know are scarce in my adoptive country…
In hindsight, it was one of the best sartorial choices I’ve ever made, plus you can never go wrong with stripes, am I roooight?
{Since the moment I spotted this rope swing I have wanted to give it a go! Yipee!}
It’s amazing how versatile a classic striped dress can be: you can dress it up with a blazer and a pair of high heels for the ultimate office attire, or play it down by throwing in your favourite sneakers and a light jacket. I have so many ideas on how to style this piece that I am happy I finally introduced it to you, guys 🙂
This time round, I kept the look rather minimal and combined the stripes with my mega old but trusty denim shirt (only £2 on a sale, not kidding!), my classic white All Star Hi Converse and the Zara raffia bag you are sick and tired of, but that you will keep on seeing because I am obsessed and it literally goes well with E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. ♥
For brunch, we visited the best coffee spot in the neighbourhood, Stir (253 Chesterton Road, CB4 1BG). This place is always buzzing with people and the service is somewhat slow, but their brunch options and delicious coffee are definitely worthy. Plus the decoration of the building is what every professional bruncher would dream of 😉
Double plus: they recently opened up a bakery right beside the café, so we are looking forward to trying all their homemade specialities! yay!
Mr. Vet went for the classic Stir Brioche Stack and I opted for their Protein Plate, with yummy smoked salmon, avocado and a field mushroom the size of my head.
After such a delicious and energetic meal, a walk along the Cam was greatly needed and appreciated. There was some kind of college competition going on, with lots of rowers and passers-by adorning the river banks.
What is your perfect Sunday plan, glamistas? Are you also a brunch fan or would you rather binge-watch series and stay in pyjamas all day? 🙂
Hope you have a great week, lovely people!
Peace & Love
Saida

26th May 2017 at 5:10 pmSiempre he querido tomar un brunch!! Lo tengo en mi lista de cosas pendientes en mi vida jiji. La verdad es que nunca podría cansarme de ese bolso de rafia con madroños. Es lo más!! Y esperemos verlo más por aquí y por Insta 😉
Tu vestido básico me gusta muchísimo. Tiene la forma perfecta, y lo has combinado en un look casual genial. Además, con tacones tienes un vestido totalmente distinto, y soy muy fan de estas prendas tan versátiles.
Pasa un genial fin de semana, Saida! Besitos!!

That breakfast looks amazing and soooooo British! I kind of wanna make it at home. I actually think I will. Also, I really like that denim shirt with that dress– I find denim goes so well with white, or gentle stripes! xx

24th May 2017 at 6:48 pmIndeed, the light in these photos is really beautiful and it feels almost like a VSCO Cam filter :). And yes, a striped dress can be super versatile and easy to dress up or down. You did a great job in styling it in a smart casual way with the denim jacket and white kicks. The straw bag added the final fun summerish touch the outfit was needing. Wishing you a great day! xx
