We all have certain limits when it comes to fashion and fashion trends, places we promise ourselves we’ll never visit: UGGs, sweatpants with heels and maxi shoulder pads are some of mine. However, there are some trends we were born to rock, so when they come along, you can only embrace them and thank the sartorial Gods for listening to your prayers every once in a while.
You have guessed correctly: the checked blazer trend (or checked everything for that matter) has made a strong entrance in everyone’s autumn wardrobe this year and I was for once ready to jump on the bandwagon at the first call! These are some of the reasons why:
1. It’s the perfect trend to transition your wardrobe from summer to autumn as this pattern invites warmer tones and the fabrics are already thicker in preparation for winter.
2. With so many pieces currently in store, you are bound to find the mate to your check.
I love this Zara midi skirt and these Mango trousers with a tortoiseshell buckle for a vintage touch. ♥
3. A blazer in general, and a checked blazer in particular, is the perfect staple in your wardrobe, as you can easily dress it up for the office or dress it down for a walk around town. Versatility is a key element during the chillier seasons, when you are forced to wear more layers than desired (or is it just me?) but don’t want to compromise style.
It’s funny how a few years ago I would have considered this trend utterly frumpy, but that’s the beauty of fashion, the ability to reinvent itself and reach each and ever one of our fashionista’s hearts!
Do you feel the masculine vibes in this outfit as well? What can I say… I like wearing the pants around here 😀
This is my ultimate pair of plaid trousers for how comfortable and versatile they are, I’ve had them for years now and I’ve worn them at least a hundred times. The fashion world sometimes pushes you to be on top of the latest trends, but I have always thought that there is nothing wrong with wearing the clothes that make you feel good over and over again. It’s not only helping your confidence but also the environment (even if a tiny bit), versus buying new clothes ever single month. We just need to find the right balance when mixing old and new to achieve that perfect look we are always after…
For this pre-brunch walk around Gran Vía street in Madrid, I chose to pair my new checked blazer with a delicate blue cotton shirt with white motives and a structured bag to pull the outfit together. The top knot bun adds a dash of fun to an otherwise dressy look and the subtle pops of gold are the perfect finishing touch to this autumn ensemble, don’t you think?
What do you think of the checked print trend, glamistas? Have you tried it already?
I confess I have a lot of styling ideas in store for you and many feature this pattern, so I hope you do like it! 😉
Real life update: we are back from holidays, the sun shines in Cambridge today but our to-do list keeps on getting bigger. Hopefully there is time for tea and biscuits this afternoon!
Wishing you a lovely Sunday and week ahead!
Peace&Love

13th October 2017 at 10:54 pmI am not surprised that this trend has made a come back. It was so popular back in the day. I wish I lived closer to my mom, I would love to check out her closet because I am pretty sure she has several of these blazers. I do see the masculine vibes this blazer give but you styled it perfectly by adding the feminine blouse and heels. Thank you for the fashion inspo Saida.

8th October 2017 at 11:26 pmYou’re so right, that blazer would have been deemed frumpy not too long ago, and yet today, it’s an absolute must-have all year round, depending on what you pair it with 🙂 this is why I hoard garments LOL
