All about the bow

People usually say it’s all about the small details in life, the simple things that often go unnoticed, but that are everywhere if you look a little more closely…

Finding the perfect tea blend to bring you back to life in the morning, a clear blue sky, the smell of your favourite food in the house, laughing at a silly joke, spending time with your loved ones, a freshly baked croissant for breakfast, your latest musical obsession playing on the radio when you get in the car… my list could go on forever 🙂

Fashion is governed by this same rule: the small details are usually the answer to a killer outfit!

I particularly love the details around the neck area: maxi knitted collars (seen on me here), ruffles (so in this season), buttons, illustrations , and of course bows! I just love the chic feeling of a shirt with a bow, so simple and effective, am I right? ♥

This week I wander the cute streets of Cambridge pretending we don’t use coats in winter, dressed in a green knit with a polka dot white shirt & a delicate scarf tied in a bow for a subtle pop of red colour –not too Christmassy I reckon, but I may have gone too far by pairing it up with this backdrop? 😉

This scarf actually came with a bag I got years ago. The bag served its purpose and then went to the heaven of bags, but I clung to this little piece of fabric as I saw there was much more life left in it. And I was not mistaken: over the years I have used this little number as a belt, as a head band, as a bow… you name it!

The outfit is completed by these flattering H&M high-waist skinny jeans that you saw on another post and my summery polka dot white shirt, a staple in every wardrobe! Really looking forward to the warmer days when I can wear it on its own…

You may think it’s a bit risky to combine different patterns and colours in one single look, and this one here may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but I guess by now you have figured I am sort of a colour-addict and I do not mind “taking risks” when it comes to fashion 😉 but of course you can always go for an all black ribbon-bow for a more classy touch!

At the end of the day, it all comes down to you owning your style, rocking your wardrobe, dressing for who you wanna be that day, and feel good about yourself ♥

I have already talked about the feeling of joy and the importance of making a conscious effort to appreciate the good things around us. Today I say pay attention to the small details and make your days count: laugh hard, push your own limits, make someone smile, dress as you like, be happy!

Have an awesome Sunday, glamistas!

Love,

Saida

Black bows are always a good choice, can dress up an outfit easily and add a bit of something to a plain look 😉 I should actually follow my own advice and get one myself, as all my bows/scarves seem to be as bright as the sun!

The small and simple things do get overlooked. I hate that I am so aware of this and yet constantly forget to notice and count them as blessings, especially when things aren’t so rosy. You could easily pile a list that would wrap around the globe threefold and that list theoretically should overpower any negative feelings too. If we just remember to notice them. I’ve got to make a more conscious effort to recognise such simple and easily attainable pleasures.

First of all, thanks for visiting and for your insightful comment, Sonia! I think we both agree that our automatic pilot is actually on “get s**t done” mode and we sometimes need to be reminded to hit the breaks and look around ourselves and appreciate how lucky we are to have what we have ♥ But as I mention in the post, the good things are everywhere, we simply need to pay more attention 😉

Hope you have a great week! Xx
