Two Ways to Style the Boyfriend Shirt

Sunday is upon us, my glamorous friends, and so is a new weekly post to show you how I like to do this thing they call fashion. Grab your cup of coffee, get comfortable and keep on scrollin’ 🙂

She talks Glam | Boyfriend Shirt | Oversized coat | Block Heels | Casual look

I have always been a huge fan of casual outfits with a twist, as I firmly believe that dressing in style doesn’t mean you have to give up comfort and cosiness –surely the inventor of the stilettos didn’t have to wear them every day!

Ever since oversized, straight and loose cuts became the regular choice of the most popular it girls (any Charlotte Groeneveld fans out there?), I have felt very inspired to find pieces within my wardrobe that fit that style. OK, I’ll admit it: I have even gone beyond the limits of my own realm and explored my boyfriend’s wardrobe too 😉

She talks Glam | Boyfriend Shirt | Oversized coat | Block Heels | Casual look

It was completely worthwhile as I discovered this Zara white shirt that happens to fit me like a (slightly oversized) glove!

I found it suited me perfectly, not too big, not too loose, just about right for the effect I wanted to get: those sleeves popping out of my coat and sweater for an overall relaxed and casual vibe with a touch of sexy! 😉

She talks Glam | Fluffy GAP Sweater | Red Vintage Bag

So here are my two proposals for styling the Boyfriend Shirt, gals!

1. Pair it with an oversized or masculine coat and let the shirt be the hero

She talks Glam | Blush Pink Bag | Faux Python | Oversized coat

Your favourite pair of jeans and black heels will complete the attire. I found that together with this beautiful ASOS coat you had already seen here the white shirt really pops and they complement one another.

Tip: make sure the coat is not so big that the shirt is completely buried under it! Also, you can add an extra dose of casual & sexy by leaving a few of the top buttons open and tucking only one side of the shirt in your trousers like so

2. Under an oversized knit or jumper for a more classical look

Again, make sure the sleeves and collar are showing, even if a little, as we want to draw the attention to this simple and somewhat masculine piece in our look.

I couldn’t resist but to pair it with this fluffy GAP sweater from the recent winter’s sales, it’s soooo soft and cosy I want to live in it!!! As the sweater came in a very light grey tone, I needed my colour fix and thought this gorgeous red vintage bag would be the perfect finishing touch. Do you agree?

Which look do you prefer? How would you style the boyfriend’s shirt?

Let me know in the comments, glamistas, and have a fantastic Sunday!

Thank you so much for visiting my little virtual corner, Nancy. So great to hear you liked the styling of the shirt, I love burgundy so much, not a summer colour but still wear it on my lips 😉

I was thinking of trying burgundy on my nails instead of red or nude… But like you said, it’s not really a summer colour. Then again, there is no rule, right?
