You know how some days everything seems to work out perfectly, since you wake up till you go to bed? You rise well rested and in a good mood, you hair looks amazing without any product on it, you cannot explain why there is almost no traffic on your commute, the workload at the office is tolerable and the day finishes with a delicious dinner in the company of your besties over a fair amount of margaritas.
Fortunately, when shooting pictures for a fashion blog you also catch those kind of days… sometimes! The outfit works exactly as you had pictured it in your head, your makeup looks flawless, no passers-by can be found at the chosen location and the golden hour creates a game of lights and shadows which hardly ever can be fully captured by a camera lens. But oh we try, and at times we even succeed…
This location had been on my list for ages, as the first time we were wandering around the streets of Cambridge I couldn’t help but fall in love with it. Orchard street is a narrow path flanked by Georgian-inspired houses on one side and old urban English cottages on the other side. It’s located in the middle of the city, close to the shopping area, yet it has somehow maintained a quaint essence that instantly transports you to another era. It’s always quiet and peaceful, and the neighbours’ front door flowers add the perfect pop of colour to an already perfect spot.
On the outfit front, I don’t know how or why, but this summer has brought out the minimalist in me and I am quite pleased with some of my recent looks following the “less is more” mantra. On this occasion, I went for a really simple but sleek & put-together look that allowed me to showcase my new baby: this beautiful handmade round crochet bag that my mama & my sister created together! ♥ Follow the link for the DIY tutorial 😉
I am sure you have noticed my collection of crochet bags this summer (as seen here, here and here), and the truth is that I have always loved these little pieces lovingly crafted by my grandma or my mother, because not only are they gorgeous and cannot be found on any high street shop, but they also remind me of important people and moments of my life and I am a sentimental soul, what can I say?
Do you have any such pieces in your wardrobe, little treasures that bring good memories to your mind and stylish touches to your outfits? 🙂
Hope you enjoyed these shots during a stormy golden hour on Orchard St. and that you have a fantastic week, glamistas!
Tomorrow marks the official start of our (summer) holidays and I couldn’t be any happier. Mr Vet, my overpacked suitcase and I will be broadcasting from the Canary Islands to those nosy people who wish to follow along on Instagram. So speak to you soon!

26th September 2017 at 2:32 amThese photos are so lovely! Golden hour is my favourite time to shoot, and that street is so charming. You’re lucky to have so many cute streets like these to choose from in the UK, I’m very limited living in a newer city that has mostly glass buildings.
