Sometimes a random trip to a discount store can result in incredible finds that become love stories. I am talking about this beautiful mock suede pleated midi skirt I discovered at TK Maxx a few months ago, of course. You know, I was actually looking for a friend’s present and instead of finding that special something for my friend, I ended up bringing this Mango beauty home with me (and for a really good price!) Does that make me a bad person? I managed to get her the present a few days later if that counts…
The truth is that, after reading Sara’s blog post on the capsule wardrobe concept, I had been analysing my wardrobe for gaps and realised I barely had a skirt in sight. I am not going to lie, I am a jeans lover and pants will always be my first choice for a day to day look, but as I started to prepare sartorially for autumn, it became obvious that I had to fill in the gaps…
I was a bit hesitant about the midi length, given that I am border line petite and therefore my first instinct is to run from garments that make me look smaller, but hey, I am also a firm advocate of culottes all year round and they fall into that category of clothing so screw the unwritten fashion rules and bring on everything that makes us happy, amirite?
Amongst all the skirts hanging from a messy rack, the fabric in this one immediately caught my eye. I am obsessed with anything (mock) suede due to the luxury feel you get from it, but the thing that really sold me was its colour: nothing screams autumn like a rust-coloured midi skirt paired with a comfy oversized knit, double brownie points if you take them to an uber-autumnal location such as the Thetford Park and start frolicking around like a gazelle, won’t you agree?
Perhaps I could’ve gone with a more minimal outfit, but I have been obsessing over how versatile my net bag is proving to be this season and in the end I quite liked the final look so there you have it, an edgy touch to a classy outfit in order to shake things up.
Real life update: if you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that November hasn’t been the best month for me for various reasons, but I am trying my best to recover from this rough patch soon so that I can keep on creating beautiful and inspiring content for you, guys!
What did you think of this look, glamistas? Did I convince you to leave everything you are doing to go and get one pleated midi skirt? No? Oh, well, at least I tried 🙂
Peace&Love

24th November 2017 at 11:45 amOh what a beautiful skirt! I can see why you had to have it even if it’s not what you went in to buy, it’s such a nice colour. Perfect pairing with that knit too.
Sorry the past few weeks have been tough for you, hope things get better soon! 🙂 I had the day off yesterday and after a specialist appointment for the little one I dropped the boys off at their grandmother’s and did some Christmas shopping, yey!

21st November 2017 at 12:55 amThat skirt looks so good on you!! Love the colours here. I got a pleated midi skirt earlier in the year but I felt that it made my calves look weird so I cut it into a mini lol. But I’ll admire the longer versions on others 🙂
Saida
25th November 2017 at 10:38 pmYeah, I know what you mean. This one sat on my wardrobe for two months until I decided I would leave it as bought and not cut it, in the end it’s all a matter of styling it the right way and not caring that I might look even smaller 😀

20th November 2017 at 9:50 pmThe midi skirt is my all time favorite! I love how you’ve styled it here with your sweater and boots. Perfect for winter.

20th November 2017 at 9:48 amYes yes yes – I love this skirt! TK Maxx can be quite the treasure trove. This is actually a gap I have in my wardrobe too – I have a few midis but they are all very summery and I’ve been missing the swooshy skirt feeling recently so I need an autumn/winter appropriate one. Also, I wish my hair looked this nice up xxx
