Dream is such a beautiful word with such a magical meaning, don’t you agree?
It can refer to the ideas, emotions and images happening involuntarily in our mind while we sleep, but also to something we long to achieve, an aspiration, something that is not real but that we wish with our heart to be so.
Since I was very little, I have always remembered my dreams. You probably know that everybody has dreams while they sleep, but they don’t always remember them when they wake up.
I am one of those weirdos that has very active and ultra-real dreams, where I walk around the streets of my city and have plausible conversations with the people from my social circle. Sometimes I also dream about crazy stuff, like apocalyptic episodes (without zombies, rather involving some sort of solar explosion) or that I am able to run so fast I get to fly.
I often daydream that I am in a deserted island, being caressed by the sun and the swaying waves, but that might be related to this wet British summer we are having… In any case, what can I say? I am a committed dreamer.
In the less literal sense of the word, we are all dreamers, made up of hopes, aspirations and longings. And I wholeheartedly believe that our dreams and expectations are what keep the world on its toes.
If we look back in history, it was always those men and women whose dreams were too big to be conceived by satisfied or fearful minds that brought about the change in the world.
Think of Eleanor Roosevelt, Gandhi or Martin Luther King, for example. Big dreamers, they had a clear vision of how they imagined the world, and they devoted their lives to chasing their dream relentlessly. At some point, they were probably considered fools by their peers and most likely had doubts about their pursuit. Swimming against the current is never easy, but the important thing is that they trusted their vision and were brave enough to go after it, they believed nothing is impossible and therefore managed to achieve great things that ended up shaping modern society.
To this day, I feel inspired by these and other modern heroes that fight really hard to bring about the change we wish to see in the world. Of course, I am not saying we should all quit our jobs and go save the polar bear in the Arctic, but I do think that, amongst the many items of our bucket list, we should find ourselves a dream that aims to inspire us & others to make the world a better place.
Perhaps you think I am naive, glamistas, but I prefer to call myself a dreamer 😀 and keep on thinking we can all do our share here, as impacting the world of the people who surround us is actually pretty easy!
Simply by being kinder to ourselves and to each other, by actively listening to what people have to say when they speak to you, by spending a few notes a year on projects that make a difference, by starting to believe that we can really do whatever we set our minds to –you will be contributing to changing the world, or at least somebody’s world!
Now you understand that the embroidered words my sister from Fábrica de Imaginación beautifully crafted on this round straw bag could not have been more appropriate [insert ♥heart-eyed emoji♥ here].
If you like it as much as I do, you have the detailed step by step tutorial on how to get this embroidered bag in her amazing blog.
And now a question for you, glamistas! Do you enjoy this kind of reading or shall we focus more on the outfits?
I feel I am writing very thoughtful (heavy?) posts lately, but as you might’ve guessed, I do like to talk stuff other than Glam with you (#shetalksmorethanglam) and perhaps sharing the thoughts that go round in my mind is a way for you to get to know me a bit better. So please let me know how you feel about it!
Wishing you a great Sunday and a life full of dreams ♥

10th August 2017 at 12:18 amOh I definitely love this form of the fashion post–it makes me read and think about your words instead of just skimming them. i know that i am an avid daydreamer– i can daydream for hours in the same spot, without moving– which i don’t know is actually so healthy, lol. But I love your outfit here– and I especially love the words that you wrote to go with them. 🙂

10th August 2017 at 12:11 amI am definitely a dreamer also. Those that dream tend to do a lot of exciting things in life because they envision themselves experiencing different things and often go out and do it!
