After the big announcement from last week, I can share with you now what our life currently looks like: half-filled boxes in every corner of the house, tons of to-do lists that never seem to get smaller, piles of clothes that need to either go to charity or into those half-filled boxes, a little mind forced to stay in focus when in reality is already flying thousands of miles up in the sky…
We are giving up our beautiful flat (I wish rent was not so stupidly high in Cambridge), so this has required dusting off our expert movers guide and tackling the painful to-do list that comes in with every move: cancelling your bills, hiring a cleaning service, scouring the supermarkets for packing boxes, eating up every suspicious tupperware still living in your freezer, letting go of the thousand oh so cute! but totally unnecessary trinkets you’ve accumulated over time and trying to find an answer to the existential question we’ve all asked ourselves at some point in our lives: how much sh*t can a human being hoard over the course of [insert here No.] years?
But apart from all the chaos and stressful moments, when I stop to breathe and realise what’s about to happen, the feeling that floods my body is the feeling of sheer happiness. Then I am like that little girl with new shoes that has forgotten the normal way of walking & talking so she jumps around squealing and smiling of pure joy instead. Or like that gal with new shiny earrings* that won’t stop wearing them even to the shower! 😀
I would be lying if I said I feel excited aaaall the time, for I have realised that planning such an adventure is not for the faint-hearted, particularly when you have a type-A personality that does not fit in your backpack, but it’s also quite interesting to observe the not-so subtle changes that are taking place around us at the moment.
The once-at-the top items on our priority list have clearly been replaced by some others that will hopefully be much more useful once we are on the go. That is to say, we have converted our living room in a war zone and are learning to live amidst the chaos 😛
We are (temporarily) saying goodbye to the fast-paced, highly-organised, reassuringly predictable life we currently lead with the intention of learning more about another kind of life: one without timetables, without deadlines and certainly without the comfort of our homes and the proximity of our family & friends, but one with plenty of surprises and opportunities to grow as humans while connecting with other beautiful people. Now, isn’t that the reason we are on this planet, glamistas?
And believe it or not, I am still squeezing in some shootings for the blog, inspired by the beautiful pieces I received recently from Happiness Boutique and the rays of sun that drenched our living room with summery light in the middle of winter.
Who else is ready for summer, black chic outfits and statement earrings? I know I am, particularly when they come with free shipping worldwide and a reward program that gives you brownie points for your next purchase! Yay! And that’s not all, for the lovely people at Happiness Boutique are offering a 10% discount** to all She talks Glam readers!
Now, do yourselves a favour and go check out their beautiful & affordable pieces.
Also let me know, how do you like these pairs I chose?
Hope you have a fantastic week ahead!
